Admission Profile:
This profile is designed for individuals with zero or very limited prior contact with the Spanish language. They aim to build the foundational pillars of communication to interact in everyday, immediate situations.
Prior Knowledge: No prior knowledge of the language is required. For students entering at the A2 sub-level, they should be able to understand isolated words, numbers, basic greetings, and answer very simple questions about themselves if the interlocutor speaks slowly.
Typical Motivations: Short-term tourism or travel, general interest in Hispanic culture, recent relocation to a Spanish-speaking country, or the desire to communicate on a basic level with friends or family.
Skills to Assess at Entry: Ability to identify Spanish alphabet sounds, understand extremely simple instructions (e.g., "hola", "por favor", "gracias"), and a willingness to engage in phonetic imitation.
Learning outcomes:
By the end of this level, students will transition from absolute beginners to functional speakers capable of handling routine daily tasks.
Linguistic Competence: Formulate simple sentences in the present and close future tenses. Ask and answer questions about personal details (family, routines, likes, and dislikes).
Real-World Application: Order food at a restaurant, ask for directions, shop at a market, and handle basic travel transactions.
Speaking Club Integration:
Lose the fear of speaking with native speakers by participating in structured, low-pressure icebreakers.
Introduce themselves, share basic personal background, and successfully use essential conversational repair strategies (e.g., "¿Cómo se dice...?", "Más despacio, por favor").
