Admission Profile:
This profile is for students who have moved past the basics and can handle most everyday situations. The main challenge for this profile is to gain confidence, expand their vocabulary, and begin mastering past tenses and the subjunctive mood.
Prior Knowledge: Ability to communicate in the present, past, and future tenses about familiar topics (work, school, hobbies). They can describe experiences, events, dreams, and ambitions, as well as briefly justify their opinions. They understand the main points of clear texts written in standard language.
Typical Motivations: Professionals who need Spanish for workplace communication, university exchange students, expats looking to fully integrate into the local community, or individuals who want to consume media (series, books, news) without subtitles.
Skills to Assess at Entry: Comprehension of simple readings, the ability to maintain a fluid conversation about daily topics (even if grammatical errors are made), and an acceptable command of the most common past-tense verbs.
Learning outcomes:
By the end of this level, students will achieve independent communication, allowing them to express opinions, tell stories, and work/study in Spanish.
Linguistic Competence: Narrate complex events smoothly using various past tenses (imperfecto vs. indefinido). Express wishes, doubts, and emotions using the present subjunctive.
Real-World Application: Conduct workplace meetings, write clear emails, understand the general plot of movies/news, and handle unexpected situations (e.g., explaining a medical issue or filing a complaint).
Speaking Club Integration:
Engage in spontaneous, unstructured conversations on abstract or topical issues (e.g., technology, environment, traditions).
Keep up with the natural pace of native speech and begin incorporating common regional idioms and filler words ("bueno", "o sea", "entonces") to sound more natural.
